Pathways to the Cricket World Cup
The qualifying method for the 14-team ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 has also been revealed, with 10 countries expected to qualify automatically. On a date to be determined, these ten teams will include South Africa and Zimbabwe as Full Member hosts, as well as the next eight highest-ranked sides on the ICC MRF Tyres ODI Rankings. The four surviving teams will compete in the ICC CWC Global Qualifier series.
The 10-team ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2024 qualifying process was also accepted.
The top three teams from each group at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, the host Bangladesh (if not in the top three of Group 1), and the next highest ranking teams on the MRF Tyres ICC T20I Rankings on 27 February 2023 will all automatically qualify for the tournament. The remaining two teams will be determined through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, which will include ten teams.
Each event’s host country was chosen via a competitive bidding procedure monitored by a Board sub-committee led by Martin Snedden. The ICC Board adopted the committee’s recommendations after conducting a comprehensive examination of each offer with ICC management.
